24 young conductors from the whole world. A highly motivated symphony orchestra. And an international jury, headed by Chief Conductor Fabio Luisi. These are the main ingredients of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra’s international Malko Competition, which fills DR Koncerthuset with a buzz of excitement and lots of music for a week in April 2024.

The Malko Competition is one of the world’s leading music competitions, one that attracts the very best young conductors of today. A number of them already have an impressive career, but nevertheless choose to enter the competition in order to make their final, international breakthrough. In the course of the competition, the young conductors tackle large-scale symphonic music by such composers as Brahms, Mahler and Tchaikovsky – all in close cooperation with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra’s musicians, who throughout the competition do everything to help the young talents achieve their very best.
As a member of the audience you can follow the entire Malko Competition live in the Concert Hall – from the introductory rounds to the exciting finale concert, where one of the three finalists will gain the coveted title of Malko Winner 2024.
